The new Health Officer for St. Joseph County will start next week.
Tuesday, the County Commissioners approved Dr. Diana Purushotham after she was given the unanimous backing of the Board of Health and the approval of the County Council.
Her new role will combine the previous part-time roles of the Health Officer and Health Department Administrator into a full-time position.
Dr. Purushotham brings an impressive resume of experience, including time spent at The Mayo Clinic. She was most recently the Medical Director of Unity Physicians Hospital.

Abolish the entire department. Their iron fisted approach to COVID proved that they do not “follow the science”, and at this point they are more likely to do great harm than they are to actually help AT ALL.
