Two individuals accused of robbery and battery by means of a deadly weapon were sentenced last week.

Shontera Wilson and Brett Birdsall are accused in the stabbing of James Kephart on March 9, 2022.

Kephart reportedly told police he had been using illegal drugs with a man and a woman before the three of them broke into a garage on State Street in Elkhart.

It was there that the man allegedly pulled a knife and demanded money from him.

During a scuffle, Kephart was stabbed and his wallet was stolen.

The two individuals matching the description provided were found later on, but originally they denied any involvement in the robbery.

Wilson and Birdsall have both pleaded guilty to several charges and were sentenced separately by plea agreement in court on Thursday.
