The Bare Hands Brewery missed a September 1 deadline to open a brewpub near Four Winds Field, and The City of South Bend is now considering legal action.

There had been an agreement in place with the Granger-based brewery to open a bar restaurant at the former Gates Service Center location in 2018, a property they had agreed to buy for one dollar. The deal was extended to September 1 of this year due to the pandemic, but now it has come and gone. Multiple extensions have been issued for the agreement over the last several years.

Now, the City is considering issuing a letter of default at its meeting this week, saying Bare Hands has not met the terms of their real estate purchase agreement.

They have one location in Mishawaka and maybe that’s enough. With the Joe Biden economy getting worse, it would be risky to open another in South Bend.

It’s not a “Joe Biden” economy. No matter who was in office, this country was 100% going to be in a recession post-pandemic. Whose in office and party has nothing to do with it.
I do agree though, Bare Hands only has room for one location…but this was also the case even before the pandemic hit.
