No pun intended, but the Wellfield Botanic Gardens are…growing…

The gardens, established by the Elkhart Rotary Club in 2005, has expanded a few times over the years to offer more to their visitors. Now they tell WSBT that they’re in the final stages of their master plan.

In 2021 they began funding process to make some changes, including an open-air pavilion to begin construction early next year. Plans will also move and repurpose the current visitor’s cottage, and pave another 100 parking spots.

Wellfield says 77% of the $17 million in total construction costs and endowment funds have already been raised.
