Attorneys for the man accused of killing a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy have asked a judge to prevent people involved in the case from sharing evidence with the public.
Orlando Mitchell is facing charges of murder for killing Deputy John Durm in a sheriff’s transport van on July 10th.
Surveillance video released by the sheriff’s office shows Mitchell using his shackles to choke and kill Durm.
The Judge ruling on the case criticized the Sheriff’s Office last week fro releasing the video saying it could impact the case, jury selection, and juror decisions.
The judge has not made a ruling on the motion yet.
Mitchell is not in court again until January 5th.

The public deserves to see all the evidence. How is an alleged killer allowed to avoid scrutiny? We have an absolute right to know who to avoid if the court does not do its job.
