Berrien County is preparing for a big broadband expansion.

The county will become home to 433 miles of fiber internet cable, which will expand broadband to underserved areas. WSJM reports that the project is being funded with $55 million, and the construction schedule is being ironed out with an eye at projects beginning in the spring of 2024. It would last through the fall of 2025, and make high-speed internet a reality for another 5000 homes in Berrien County.

Funding is through a ROBIN grant from the state.
