Deadline arrives for Special Judge to respond to request to be removed from Delphi murders case

Monday was the deadline for Judge Fran Gull to respond to a request by attorneys for Richard Allen to have her removed from the Delphi murders case.

The attorneys petitioned the state Supreme Court to have her removed, saying that Gull ruled against Allen’s constitutional rights by forcing his previous legal team off the case.

They also say the complexity of the matter and the fact that attorney general Todd Rokita declined to represent Gull is problematic.

Gull had until the end of business, Monday, to respond to the petition.
