A bill before the Indiana Senate would allow elected leaders and their employees to carry a handgun inside the Statehouse.
The bill passed the Senate Corrections Committee along party lines this week and is now before the full State Senate.
Republican Senator Jim Thomes of Wadesville says the bill “makes sense” due to the crime rate in Indianapolis.
It would allow the attorney general, secretary of state, state comptroller, and state treasurer and their employees to be armed if they choose to be so.

I agree. Now do something to help the defenseless law abiding Citizens who have to go to the Statehouse on official business.
Oh my god!! Are we back to packing two gun holsters on our hips?? Shades of the old west!!!
Gee! What could go wrong?
Wopper and Bruce, I think you two would be very surprised to know how many people you walk by daily who are carrying firearms on their person. A few years ago before Constitutional Carry became the law in Indiana, I did some research and found that nearly 10% of the male population in Indiana had a carry permit. I’m sure that number has only gone up with the increased lawlessness in Democrat strongholds and the elimination of red tape from the enactment of Constitutional Carry legislation.
One out of 10 males are armed. You walk by dozens of them every day. If it was really the “wild West” you’d have seen shootings by now.
Baby steps back towards the Constitution…baby steps.
