City Commissioners in St. Joseph have approved a special event permit for the Krasl Art Fair this coming July.

The annual art fair on the Bluff overlooking Lake Michigan attracted 23,000 people last year, according to WSJM. Monday the commissioners heard from a representative from Krasl that said the art fair supports the city’s art center, and the work it does throughout the year.

That includes free admission to the art galleries and a number of free programs and outreach in the community. It also inspires people to shop in the downtown area, stay at local hotels, ear at restaurants, and more.

There had been a suggestion to charge a $5 admission price this year, and a compromise was reached instead for a general donation.
