A Niles man has been found guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon following a three-day jury trial in U.S. District Court in South Bend.
Shauntay Wade, 43, was arrested by Mishawaka Police after an incident in December of 2021 when Wade’s then-girlfriend called 911 stating that Wade allegedly assaulted her and pulled a gun during an argument at her home.
According to court documents, the girlfriend took off from the home, wearing only a robe, and barricaded herself in her car where she called police.
Officers arrived, detained Wade and searched the home. Officers found the gun in proximity to marijuana and cocaine.
Wade is scheduled for sentencing in mid-June.
