LaPorte now designated as railroad quiet zone

(Tommie Lee/95.3 MNC)
LaPorte is now designated as a railroad quiet zone. This means trains passing through the city won’t be sounding their horns anymore.
However, city officials say it’s crucial for drivers to remember to stop when they see the lights flashing at crossings… and to check carefully before crossing, as the absence of horn warnings will be the new norm.
In emergencies, like obstacles on the tracks, trains will still use their horns to alert people.
