Potential arson at abandoned Benton Harbor School

A fire could have been set on purpose in Benton Harbor.

It happened Sunday, March 24, at 2:53 p.m. at the abandoned Morton School on North Hull Avenue.

Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety says there was heavy smoke on the north side of the school and the fire in a classroom, going toward the roof.

Police say the roof collapsed and that the northwest part of the school has been condemned and will need to be torn down.

Officials are still investigating the fire, but say it looks to be set intentionally.
