New rules could be in place for Michigan lawmakers looking to become lobbyists

There could soon be new rules in place for Michigan lawmakers who are looking to become lobbyists.
The Michigan House began considering a one-year “cooling-off period” for lawmakers looking to make that switch.
The legislation is part of a bigger package from Democrats in an effort to reform government ethics laws.
Bridge Michigan reports that some supporters believe one year may not be enough time. There are concerns that lawmakers could vote to help an entity, and then go to work for that entity right after they leave office, creating a loss of public trust and faith.
