A Michigan Supreme Court candidate may face disbarment, but not until after the November election.

Matthew DePerno is set to defend himself against professional misconduct charges that may jeopardize his ability to serve, but according to Bridge Michigan, that likely won’t be until after the November election.

The complaint was filed against DePerno more than a year ago, accusing him of three counts of professional misconduct dating back to when he was an attorney for former state Rep. Todd Courser.

If the board finds merit in the complaint, he could have his Michigan law license suspended or revoked, calling into question his ability to serve on the Michigan Supreme Court.
