A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning at the Cass County courthouse to decide whether a recount should take place in the Penn Township Treasurer Republican nomination race.

Incumbent Paul Rutherford has objected to the recount request filed by challenger Jodi Bucher.

Rutherford won the August 6 contest by one vote, with 281 votes to Bucher’s 280. Leader Publications reports the Cass County Board of Canvassers certified the results and Bucher requested a recount shortly after.

During the hearing, the Board will consider Rutherford’s objection.
