Richard Goodall, a janitor with strong singing talent, won a million dollars and captivated a global audience on Tuesday night. He celebrated after hearing his name announced as the winner of America’s Got Talent, with confetti falling around him.
“Somebody pinch me. Just pinch me,” Goodall said.
Goodall’s audition journey began in the spring after a TikTok video showed him singing to students at West Vigo. AGT judge Howie Mandel recognized Goodall’s potential when he took the stage.
Viewers responded positively to Goodall’s personality, voting him to the top position. Other judges also noted his appeal.
During his run for the America’s Got Talent championship, Goodall performed hits like “Don’t Stop Believin'” and “Open Arms” by Journey, as well as Michael Bolton’s “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You?” and Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger.”
AGT judge Sofia Vergara highlighted his progress in the competition, noting that his story resonated with many and that this experience would change his life. Heidi Klum described Goodall’s performance as impressive.
