A man has pleaded guilty to charges related to the 2021 murder of Elkhart teenager Deontae Harris.

Tyren Allen admitted to assisting Sherman Whitener, who was convicted earlier this year for Harris’ murder.
Police believe Allen took a gun from Harris’ body after the shooting, though Allen claimed it may have been a phone or keys. Allen was originally arrested for theft in February but was later held to testify in Whitener’s trial.
The Goshen News says he’s charged with assisting a criminal who assisted in or committed murder and obstruction of justice. He now faces up to six years in prison, with his sentencing scheduled for November 14th.
