Michigan lawmaker supports growth of nuclear power in state

A state lawmaker in Michigan is looking to grow nuclear power in the state.

State Representative Joey Andrews says he’s encouraging further development of nuclear energy in Michigan. WSJM reports that Andrews is working on a package of bills with several colleagues aimed at attracting nuclear energy providers to the state, as well as a grant program to encourage that industry’s workers to come to the state.

Andrews says the industry has been cautious over the years due to shifts in public opinion, but right now there is healthy support for nuclear power expansion in Michigan.
