Single-vehicle crash on U.S. 20 leaves driver injured, facing charges

A single-vehicle accident on U.S. 20 near County Road 27 left a Middlebury man injured and facing legal charges.

The collision happened on Monday afternoon, Dec. 9.

Investigators say the 64-year-old man was driving a 2016 Hyundai Accent eastbound when he experienced a medical issue. The vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a utility pole, and overturned several times before coming to rest upright in a ditch.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

Police cited the man for driving while his license was suspended.
