An Elkhart man accused of trying to kill his father is seeking out sanity evaluations.

Dominique Edwards is accused of shooting and injuring his father, Anthony Shaw, at Shaw’s home in November of 2020.

He’s facing charges of attempted murder and resisting law enforcement. Officers at the jail saw Edwards refused to attend two different evaluations.

The Goshen News says despite Edwards not cooperating in previous attempts for evaluation, the most recent attempt was unsuccessful due to the doctor being unable to render an opinion due to Edwards’ being unable to recall the events he is charged with.

The judge did not agree to appoint a fourth doctor to evaluate insanity. Edwards’ jury trial remains set for February 3.
