A two-vehicle collision on State Road 15 at the County Road 50 intersection Monday afternoon left two people injured and resulted in one driver receiving multiple citations.
The crash happened just before 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, when a Honda CRV, driven by 17-year-old Warsaw girl rear-ended a 2020 Nissan Armada driven by a 40 Syracuse woman.
According to the police report, the Syracuse woman had slowed or stopped at the intersection to wait for southbound traffic before making a left turn onto County Road 50. The Warsaw teen was following too closely and was not able to stop in time and struck the woman’s vehicle from behind. The impact caused heavy front-end damage to the Honda and significant rear-end damage to the Nissan.
The teen sustained a fractured leg and facial injuries and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital. A passenger in the woman’s vehicle, 66-year-old Syracuse woman, also suffered neck and back injuries and was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Authorities cited the teenager for following too closely and for using a telecommunications device while driving.
