New overpass to help decrease traffic over Hively Avenue railroad tracks

(Tommie Lee/95.3 MNC)

Officials have announced a new overpass will be constructed over the Hively Avenue railroad crossing.

About 75 trains use the track line each day, blocking traffic for about 3.5 hours each day.

A grant from the Department of Transportation’s 2024 Railroad Crossing Elimination Program has been awarded to assist with funding the project.

The overpass will help separate drivers and pedestrians from the tracks to allow safer conditions and decrease traffic in the area.
