Police investigating fatal shooting at Best Western on University Drive

A fatal shooting at the Best Western hotel in Mishawaka has left a Michigan man dead, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Mishawaka Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the hotel around 3:20 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, following reports of a shooting victim in one of the rooms. Upon arrival, authorities found Anthony Korolis, 44, unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses were located in and around the hotel, providing initial details to uniformed officers. While investigators continue to follow leads, police have assured the public that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The Mishawaka Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation and urges anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Tips can be directed to the Mishawaka Police Detective Bureau at 574-258-1684 or submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-342-STOP.
