More people in Michigan are cutting the cord and dropping their cable subscriptions.

Nearly 190,000 cable subscribers dropped their service in 2024, a 15% drop statewide.

According to Bridge Michigan, it was the third consecutive year with a decline, and only 2021 — when so many were stuck at home during the pandemic — saw any increase at all in the last ten years. Michigan now has 1.1 million cable subscribers, less than half the number of the peak in 2015.

Most viewers have moved to streaming services that require high-speed internet.
