A man living at the Logansport State Hospital has been charged with murder.
John Loran, 56, of Clark County was arrested this week on charges of murder, aggravated battery, and battery following a criminal investigation by Detective Mike Lorona.
“Lorona’s investigation began on February 6, 2025 and the battery was reported to have taken place at the Logansport State Hospital on February 4, 2025,” said Indiana State Police Sergeant Steven Glass.
Glass says Lorona’s investigation showed that Loran, a patient at the Logansport State Hospital, had beat up two other patients inside the facility.
“An individual by the name of Travis Lunsford, 45, of London, Kentucky sustained critical injuries. Lunsford was transported by ambulance to an area hospital in critical condition,” said Glass.
Lunsford eventually died from those injuries on February 16. Court documents say Loran kicked Lunsford in the head multiple times, punched him in the face, and stomped on Lunsford’s head.
“The other patient sustained minor injuries, was transported to a hospital, eventually treated, and released,” said Glass.
After Loran was taken into custody, he was incarcerated at the Cass County Jail.
