A man suspected of vehicle theft, drug possession, and illegal firearm possession was arrested at Four Winds Casino in South Bend.
Officers were tipped off about a stolen Cadillac at the casino, Sunday, and identified the suspect as 40-year-old James Gaddey. Authorities also suspected Gaddey was in possession of illegal substances and a firearm.
Working alongside Tribal Police, St. Joseph County Police found the vehicle in the casino parking garage. Surveillance footage revealed Gaddey was inside the casino’s hotel lobby, where he was promptly taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun, marijuana, pills, ski masks, and lighter fluid. Officers also recovered the car keys, and the vehicle was returned to its owner.
Gaddey now faces multiple charges, including Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun, Criminal Mischief, Auto Theft, Intimidation, and Unlawful Possession or Use of a Legend Drug.
