Driver arrested for OWI after rollover crash in Elkhart County

A 24-year-old Goshen man was arrested after crashing his vehicle into a utility pole and rolling multiple times in a suspected impaired driving incident.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, Vicente Salazar Sanchez was traveling northwest on County Road 45 aROUND 11 p.m. on Friday, March 14, when his Mazda 3S veered off the roadway near 21638 County Road 45. The vehicle struck a utility pole, destroying it, before rolling an unknown number of times and coming to rest on all four wheels.
Emergency responders transported Sanchez to a local hospital for evaluation after he complained of head pain. Investigators at the scene noted several signs of impairment, prompting authorities to obtain a search warrant for a blood test, with results pending.
Following medical clearance, Sanchez was taken into custody and booked at the Elkhart County Jail. He faces charges of Operating While Intoxicated and never obtaining a driver’s license.
