Second Indiana National Guard deployment to southern border to last longer

The Indiana National Guard has deployed for a second time to the southern border, this time for a 12-month mission costing an estimated $9 million.
The first deployment ended in late February, with a new group of 50 soldiers heading out shortly after.
This deployment continues Indiana’s commitment to aid Operation Lone Star, initiated by Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott to secure the U.S.-Mexico border.
The original deployment cost the state about $8 million.
The soldiers on this mission volunteered, and there were more volunteers than available spaces.
