Collision on CR 10 and CR 1 results in arrest and injury

A collision at the intersection of County Road 10 and County Road 1led to one driver’s arrest and another’s hospitalization with injuries.

The incident occurred just before 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, when a southbound 2022 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Austin Martinson, 31, of Elkhart, disregarded a stop sign and pulled in front of a northwest-bound 2018 Ford Escape driven by 51-year-old Granger woman.

She was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of a possible broken hand, along with complaints of chest and hip pain. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was not cited.

Martinson was arrested at the scene for operating while intoxicated. Martinson was also cited for disregarding a stop sign and driving without insurance.
