Mishawaka Police responded to a domestic violence incident early this morning at the Hickory Village apartment complex, in the 4500 block of Hickory Road. Authorities received reports of a female suspect threatening a male with a machete.

A standoff lasting approximately 90 minutes ensued, during which the female suspect was eventually taken into custody without further incident. She was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case.
