Crash on U.S. 20 injures two, Driver cited for disregarding traffic signal

A three-vehicle crash on U.S. 20 near County Road 35 Thursday morning sent two people to the hospital and led to a traffic citation for one of the drivers.
The collision occurred around 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, when a westbound Ford F-350 failed to stop for slowing traffic, crashing into the rear of a Ford Edge, which was then pushed into a Volkswagen Jetta stopped at a red light.
The driver of the Edge and her passenger both sustained injuries. The driver reported head and leg pain, while the passenger suffered a facial laceration. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The drivers of the Ford F-350 and Volkswagen Jetta were uninjured.
Police cited the driver of the Ford F-350 for disregarding a traffic control device resulting in bodily injury.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
