Work is expected to begin this year on a new park in northeastern St. Joseph County.

St. Joseph County purchased a 115-acre parcel off Anderson Road in early 2000, and after 25 years, work will soon begin on a park.

Plans include two fishing ponds, a walking path, picnic shelters, two playgrounds and restrooms.

The project will be financed through a park bond, and one more open house will be held on Thursday, May 29 to discuss the plans.

The open house will be at Discovery Middle School from 6 to 8 p.m.
