A man accused of auto theft and a related burglary of a garage was sentenced last week.
Police were called to West Van Buren Street in Nappanee last July where police say they found two people running away from ATVs.
Adrian Caughn and Trey Debaillie were believed to be responsible due to wet footprints and the two sweating when police caught up to them. Debaillie stated that the key he had was his key, saying he did not know why it would start the ATV.
The victim claimed that the key was a spare that was left in the glove box.
The Goshen News says surveillance footage showed the men unloading the ATV and pushing it down the road, and the vehicle involved in the theft was located, containing a crossbow that had been stolen from a neighbor’s garage.
Debaillie was sentenced for burglary and attempted auto theft and will serve three years on probation.

Maybe it’s time to start locking these people up?
