Driver cited after crash on County Road 40 during wet conditions

A Goshen woman was hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash on County Road 40, east of County Road 7.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18. when the driver of a 2007 Saturn Aura lost control while traveling eastbound. Investigators say the vehicle was moving too fast for the wet road conditions and was equipped with bald rear tires.

The car left the roadway, struck a mailbox and then a utility pole on the north side of the road.

The 36-year-old driver suffered shoulder pain and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment. She was cited for driving too fast for conditions and operating a vehicle without insurance.
