13-year-old brain cancer patient sworn in as Secret Service honorary member

A 13-year-old boy diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer has been making headlines after being sworn in as an honorary member of the Secret Service following the State of the Union address.

Over 1,400 Sheriff’s Offices, including St. Joseph County, participated in an honorary swearing-in ceremony on Monday for DJ Daniel at the National Sheriff’s Association’s annual conference in Florida.

After Monday, he has been sworn in to more than 2,800 departments.
