The St. Joseph County Council continues debating a plan to remove affirmative action from the county’s property tax abatement application.
They will revisit it at their next meeting but have not taken a position.
Republicans Amy Drake and Andy Rutten say recent court rulings require the change.
Other council members oppose it, saying affirmative action ensures fair opportunities for disadvantaged communities.
