Death investigation underway in Culver following welfare check

The Indiana State Police have launched a death investigation after a man was found dead during a welfare check at a residence in Culver.
Officers with the Culver Police Department were called to the home around 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, to check on the occupant’s wellbeing. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased male inside the residence and notified state police.
Indiana State Police detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene. Based on preliminary findings and collected evidence, investigators say there is no indication of a threat to the public.
The Marshall County Coroner has identified the deceased as Billy G. McCarty Jr. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, July 4, to determine the official cause and manner of death.
