Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales has signed an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security to access a federal immigration database in an effort to identify noncitizens on the state’s voter rolls.
Morales aims to ensure that only U.S. citizens are eligible to vote in Indiana.
The state plans to cross-check information from the database with voter registration details of 1,600 individuals to verify citizenship.
