A 33-year-old Elkhart man was hospitalized after a single-vehicle rollover crash on Old U.S. Highway 20, just east of Meadowood Drive and outside the Elkhart city limits.

The crash occurred around 8:25 p.m. on Friday, July 11. According to investigators, the driver of a 2011 Ford F-250 pickup was headed westbound when the vehicle veered off the north side of the roadway. The driver, then re-entered the road at a high rate of speed, crossed into the eastbound lanes, and overcorrected—causing the truck to leave the road again and roll several times before coming to rest.

The driver was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with complaints of shoulder and neck pain. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Authorities say drugs and alcohol are suspected to be contributing factors. Toxicology results are pending.
