The Indiana House of Representatives has released a statement in regards to an altered image of State Rep. Maureen Bauer.

They claim that they are aware of a maliciously altered photo of Representative Bauer that has been used in a sextortion attempt.

The fabricated, non-consensual image is false, and the crime has been reported to the Indiana State Police and the FBI.

They say creating, sharing or distributing the image may result in state or federal criminal charges as well as civil action.

The public is being urged not to view or share the content.
