An Elkhart man accused of auto theft has appeared in court.

Police responded to a stolen vehicle at Martins Supermarket in Goshen on August 25. Police located the vehicle and pulled it over, ordering the driver, Angel Luna Soto, to get out of the vehicle.

When he exited the vehicle, it began rolling away.

The officer noted that Soto did not follow directions well and made unusual comments, according to The Goshen News.

Soto was arrested and could not explain how he got into the vehicle, but the victim said that Soto had stated that he needed a ride home before getting into the vehicle and leaving. His jury trial is scheduled for December 8.
