St. Joseph County leaders are moving forward with plans for a new train station in New Carlisle.

They presented the idea at this week’s Redevelopment Commission meeting and have already begun surveys and studies to find a location.

The South Shore Line once had a station in New Carlisle, but it closed in 1994.

Leaders say the new stop would not affect the ongoing South Shore Line relocation project but would serve the area’s growing needs.
