Talk of another data center in the New Carlisle area has been voted against.

The Area Plan Commission voted unanimously against the proposed data center at a meeting this week.

This, following an uproar from the community, as people have been standing up against the idea of losing their property to a new data center.

The proposed center would convert existing agricultural land to industrial, but the land is already occupied by about 16 single-family homes and two family farms.

Even with the commission’s vote, it will go to the St. Joseph County Council for final approval.
