South Bend man sentenced for attempted carjacking

A South Bend man has been sentenced in Berrien County Court for an attempted carjacking.

Tyrus Cloy pleaded guilty to attempted carjacking for a July incident just south of Buchanan. Cloy reportedly fled on foot before attempting to steal a car at JD’s Truck Stop.

He was sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit for two days served and $258 in fines and costs.

Leader Publications says he will also undergo a mental health assessment.
