A rear-end crash north of County Road 42 sent three people to the hospital.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the collision happened just after 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sep. 23,  on State Road 15, just north of CR 42. Investigators say a northbound 2005 Nissan Sentra struck the rear of a 2009 UPS parcel truck that was stopped and waiting to turn left into a driveway.

The car’s driver suffered a head laceration and a cut to his hand. A front-seat passenger had a cut to the nose and hand. Both were transported to Goshen General Hospital. A 1-year-old passenger in the back seat was not hurt but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The UPS driver was not injured.

Deputies cited the car’s driver for following too closely.
