The St. Joseph County Council postponed a vote, Tuesday night, on rezoning land for a proposed data center north of New Carlisle, citing concerns from nearby residents. The project would become the county’s third data center.
Homeowners raised issues about traffic, water, and electricity use.
Last week, the St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission issued a 7-0 unfavorable recommendation.
Council members met with residents in New Carlisle to discuss their concerns. Councilwoman Amy Drake opposed the delay, preferring to address the issue immediately.
Residents, including Dan Caruso, said they believe the developer is stalling but plan to stay engaged.
