Families, donors, and city leaders broke ground on Wednesday, Sep. 24, on Mishawaka’s new Miracle League Park, a recreation space for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities.
The park at Normain Heights will feature a fully accessible baseball field, inclusive playground, splash pad, softball field, pavilions, sensory areas, and accessible bathrooms.
Campaign Chairman Richard Pfeil, who has contributed over $1 million of his own money, said the project took 14 years to bring to life.
“My son John and my daughter Mary have handicaps, and their persistence inspired me to make this park a reality,” Pfeil said.
