19-year-old sentenced after infant found with suspicious injuries

A young father has been sentenced after his infant was found with suspious injuries.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to the child abuse complaint in March of 2023 and determined the girl’s injuries to be purposefully inflicted by 19-year-old Jacob Kats of Tippecanoe.

Kats pleaded guilty to Aggravated Battery and was sentenced to 15 years in prison with two to be served on probation.
