Two parents have been charged with neglect in the death of their infant.

Nick Hunsberger and Amanda Fahlbeck appeared in court for a pretrial conference Thursday.

Both are charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death — a Level 1 felony. Police say Fahlbeck called 911 in May 2022 after finding her two-week-old son unresponsive at their Goshen home.

The Goshen News reports that the baby later died at the hospital. According to court documents, both parents appeared intoxicated, and tests found multiple drugs in their systems.

An autopsy showed the baby’s death was linked to drug exposure and unsafe sleep. Hunsberger’s bond remains unchanged, with another hearing on October 30.

Fahlbeck’s trial is set for April 6, with a pretrial March 12.
