Electricity is being restored to thousands of Indiana Michigan Power customers after an outage affected parts of St. Joseph County, including South Bend and Mishawaka.
The outage began just before 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, when a tree fell into power lines, damaging high-voltage wires that serve several substations.
More than 9,000 customers initially lost service.  By mid-afternoon, they had restored service to more than 1,000 customers, and all remaining customers were expected to have their power return by 10 p.m. on Wednesday night.
